Travelling Light
A light art installation and art trail by Alice Stallard, commissioned by First Light Festival CIC for Battery of Ideas Place Partnership project explores how we connect and engage with the world around us.
Through the transformation of discarded suitcases into small beacons of light and hope, Travelling Light aims to encourage positivity, movement and joy in its audience..
Each suit case repurposed for this installation and art trail carries the marks of its previous life - journeys and stories etched into its surface remain exposed, revealing a sense of humanity and character about the object. Where it once may have been carrying clothes, personal effects for a new life, photograph albums and other ephemera, through light and words it now carries messages of sentiment, good will, positivity and joy.
Travelling Light installation will be at The Battery of Ideas, London Rd N, Lowestoft NR32 1LZ from 17 November - 4 December.
Travelling Light Trail will be in 6 venues in and around Lowestofts cultural quarter from 17 November - 4 December.
Participating trail venues include Battery of Ideas, Lowestoft Library, Sam’s Wellbeing Hub and Cafe, Woodwork Art Cafe, Lowestoft Lifeboat Station and East Point Pavilion.
